  My 82 year old mother fell and hit her head and suffered a severe head injury. My 90 year old father drove her to St. John's where she was admitted to the ICU. She stayed in the hospital for 12 days before going to a long term care hospital. The staff at St. John's took excellent care of her! The nurses and nurse assistants were kind and compassionate, my mom's sitters really pampered her as well. I am a practice nurse in Grand Rapids and highly recommend St. John's hospital.

  Please do yourself a favor and go to Beaumont or ANYWHERE else instead. This is the worst hospital I have ever been to. The way I was treated by staff was unbelievable. I will never go here again. I was waiting for 4 hours in excruciating pain, in a hallway. There were a bunch of people walking by, casually talking, laughing, not one person offered me a drink of water, or a blanket, or pillow, or anything. I was crying and moaning in agony, not one person stopped to ask if I needed anything. I am appalled that you treat human beings this way. I ended up leaving, after four hours of waiting and never actually being seen by the doctor. Just, wow. This place is sick.
